Spy vs. Spy

A while back, I mentioned that I had discovered that you can borrow library books digitally.  I’ve read a few books that way so far and I think it’s a cool idea.  I’ve been on a waiting list for a book I’m interested in for two months now and I finally got the download.  The only problem is that I only have seven days to read this fairly long book.  I think I can renew for another seven days but even so, I’m feeling under pressure to read this thing quickly so I don’t have to buy it to finish it.  It’s only ten bucks but at this point, it’s the principal.  I will finish reading this book before my time is up!  Here’s what I’m reading, for any fellow nerds who may be interested.

I’m using this as an excuse for why I have not been blogging as much lately.  The truth is that I’m sickened by the daily, political,  horror show that we’re living through.  I want to write today about an issue that, it seems to me, people on all sides of the political spectrum should surely be able to agree on. Internet privacy.  Isn’t that something we all want?  My scumbag of a Congressman, Chris Collins, actually co-sponsored this bill, which passed along party lines.  Care to guess which party voted for this bill?  When you vote republican, you vote for this.  Is there anyone outside of republican politicians and various business interests who wants their internet search history available for sale?  Are you a republican voter who is for this?  If so, tell me why.

In the meantime, I’m going to contribute to this crowdfunding project, which will seek to purchase the internet history of all lawmakers who voted for it.  I can’t wait to read all about what Chris Collins is searching for on the internet.
