Rock The Boat

I haven’t been blogging much lately, as I’m sure my three loyal  readers have noticed.  Why?  Well, there’s just so much news lately that I’m overwhelmed by it.  Who’s got the energy to take on every last, ridiculous, maddening, infuriating thing going on?  Not this guy.  At least not right now.  Let’s do a quick rundown of current news items that are giving me heartburn.

There’s the new head of the EPA(not to mention our president elect, with an ill-informed stance on climate change.

There’s our incoming HUD Secretary, who has zero experience in the field.

There’s the whole fake news debacle and of all things, pizzagate.  Haven’t we had enough “gates” by now?  Can we retire that term?  Trump had to fire Flynn’s son for continuing to tweet out false information on this “pedophile-Clinton-pizza” story.  How in the world aren’t we all smarter than this?

There’s the continued increase in hate crimes, post-election.

Oh, and Russia successfully interfered in our election, in case you missed it.

I’m sure I’m just touching the surface here.  It’s all too much.  I can see how the media got overwhelmed during the election.  Every day, there was ten more  stories,  one crazier than the last.

I still haven’t watched any television news since the election.  I’m on strike.  I’m sticking with online news for now.  I’m reading books, hanging with the family, and cranking the tunes.

My current obsession is amazon prime music, which gives you access to millions of songs.  I’ve been creating playlists and rocking out.  I just put together a playlist of 70’s pop songs.  Rock on with your bad self.

  1. “Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.” – William Congreve While often misquoted, Congreve’s original statement actually has even more relevance to your post. In our current state of affairs the rocks are harder and the oaks more twisted than ever. We can’t ignore those facts, but it can’t hurt to listen to some great tunes to help ease our digestion of the tripe that is served up daily in the news.
