Following up on my recent post about Hillary Clinton, (https://thoughtsfromtheblo.wordpress.com/2016/02/08/poor-hill/), I just read a great article in The New Republic, written by a very smart, twenty something woman.
It’s her opinion that the Iraq war vote, the Great Recession, Bernie’s stance on single payer health insurance and on free college tuition are all reasons for Hillary’s weak support among younger females. In addition, due to their younger age, they don’t feel the same urgency that many older women do. There is no right or wrong here. It’s just a matter of perspective.
Of particular interest to me is the following:
“But millennials tend to prefer, according to a 2015 Harvard IOP poll, integrity over experience, and negative associations are difficult to do away with.”
We are living in such an interesting political moment. I still think that older democrats will push Hillary to the nomination. The big question will then be if the younger voters, particularly women, will come around and support her.
